Dental Hot Topics Webinar

The Dental Hot Topics Webinar, led by tutor Aashna, worked through the current issues and trends most likely to come up in dental interviews. Topics covered included water fluoridation, the sugar tax, dental technology, the obesity crisis, safeguarding, NHS versus private care, tooth and clinical content, and the roles within a dental team, among others. Each topic was broken down to show the different sides of the debate, the reasoning behind them, and how a well-rounded candidate might approach the question if it came up in an interview setting, rather than simply reciting facts or a memorised opinion. Aashna also drew on real examples and recent developments to keep the discussion grounded in what is actually happening in dentistry right now, rather than textbook theory. Students left the session with a resource guide to take away, giving them a reference point to revisit and build on as they continued their own interview preparation in the weeks that followed.
