6 Week Interview Preparation Course

The six-week course was delivered through small, tutor-led groups meeting weekly for two-hour sessions, culminating in a university-specific mock interview followed by a final mock. Early sessions established core interview technique — structuring responses, approaching ethical scenarios, and responding effectively under time pressure — before progressing to more targeted practice as the course advanced, with individual feedback provided after each response rather than deferred to the end of a session. The extended format allowed candidates' answers to be refined and developed across the six weeks, rather than rehearsed once, with students revisiting and strengthening earlier responses ahead of the final mock. Group sizes were kept deliberately small to ensure consistent participation, and students had access to practising dentists and dental students between sessions, allowing questions on content or approach to be resolved promptly rather than held over to the following week. By the final mock, several students reported that the greatest improvement was not in subject knowledge, but in their ability to communicate confidently and clearly under interview conditions.
